President Nathan McGanty is a Lieutenant with the Chesapeake (VA) Police Department as the evening shift Command Duty Officer. His career with Chesapeake Police started in February 2003 where he has served in many roles.

Since attending his first IAATI conference in 2011 he has been a regular and active participant and both his local South East Chapter training events and at the International IAATI conferences. In 2018 he was appointed President of South East IAATI and commenced as an International Board member which has resulted in his election as President at the 2023 IAATI conference in Hawaii.

Nathan leads a busy life. In addition to his role as IAATI President and his full-time position with Chesapeake Police, he also serves as the editor of IAATI’s APB and Vehicle Crimes Today publications, has led the redevelopment of IAATI’s new website, and in February this year commenced a two-year term as President of the International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI).

Iain is a former Police Officer with an extensive background in stolen vehicle examinations. He is the Chair of the UK-based NASVE (National Association of Stolen Vehicle Examiners), whose mission goal is to promote best practices amongst Stolen Vehicle Examiners, support their development and skills and guide, support and help train newly certified examiners to expected industry standards.
He has been a Board Member of the UK Branch of IAATI since 2017 (currently Branch Treasurer) and served on the International Board of IAATI since 2019 (currently a Director).

Iain joined the Strathclyde Police in 1993 and after six years in various roles, became a Stolen Vehicle Examiner. In 2013, he was appointed Force Stolen Vehicle Examiner for Police Scotland where he was responsible Force-wide for the examination and identification of stolen, suspect stolen vehicles and the traceability of component parts back to original vehicles proving provenance, and the preparation of reports containing evidentiary material to support the prosecution of offenders by the COPFS. He also provided teaching inputs on vehicle crime at the Scottish Police College and other locations. He has written and developed bespoke training materials on the subject and is the co-author of the current College of Policing National Policing Curriculum Learning Standard on Stolen Vehicle Examination.

Iain sits on various groups within the NPCC National Vehicle Crime Working Group, including Force Leads Meetings, Horizons Scanning Group, and as the Chair for the National Association of Stolen Vehicle Examiners reporting to the UK Crime Taskforce. In September 2022 he retired from Police Scotland and established McKinlay - Davis Consultants Ltd. , a specialist vehicle examination and training service.

Most recently he was the Automation & AI Evangelist at IAG, driving the research and policy development of artificial intelligence. In addition to his technical and strategic expertise, Probir is also a passionate writer, musician, and composer, having scored for over 70 films and stage musicals, and written/directed two full-length feature films.

Her work primarily targets organised crime, where she plays a pivotal role in dismantling crime syndicates. Sarah’s use of data to create fraud intelligence tools has been instrumental in strengthening proactive fraud prevention measures within her organisation.

Daniel Burke is a former police investigator with almost two decades of policing and insurance expertise. As a police investigator, Daniel led a team of investigators who specialised in detecting and apprehending recidivist property offenders receiving five Commendations for Excellence in Investigative Achievements.

Daniel understands the commercial nature of the Insurance Industry. He promotes non-confrontational investigative methodologies which are both client and customer-focused, in line with the General Insurance Code of Practice. Daniel has been responsible for detecting hundreds of misrepresented insurance claims and has in the process saved insurers millions. Daniel has received six certificates of appreciation from insurers and corporate clients subject to his team’s consistent ability to achieve results.

In May 2019, Daniel was awarded the Australasian Insurance Investigation of the Year Award and in September 2019, he was presented with the International Insurance Investigator of the Year Award at the 67th Annual IAATI Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.

Daniel is an expert interviewer highly trained in the art of deception detection having conducted well over 1000 insurance and criminal interviews. He has studied and continues to study behavioral Interviewing and passive interrogation methodologies used by the CIA, FBI and other specialist agencies around the world.

Daniel is an ANZIIF Senior Associate (CIP) and AICLA (Aff), a fully qualified and registered Insurance Adjuster and licensed Investigator. He has conducted liability investigations into major disasters across Australia including but not limited to; tower crane collapses, heavy vehicle accidents, train crashes, tanker explosions and various industrial-related fatalities.

With the assistance of information provided by Berla, New Zealand police located the deceased buried on a rural Auckland property 8 months after he was reported missing. Three gang-related persons are currently before the court on murder charges.

Jeff has in excess of 35 years policing experience, primarily in the field of traffic enforcement. He was an operational officer since 1987 through to 2006 serving at various locations around Queensland. From 2006 - 2013 he was the State Speed Detection and Asset Coordinator responsible for procurement, training programs including training of instructors and maintenance of policy relating to LIDAR and mobile RADAR speed devices. From 2013 to 2020, Jeff managed the ANPR/ALPR program for the state which included contract management, implementation and expansion of mobile ANPR, training and advancement of ANPR beyond simple traffic enforcement.

Jeff's last post was as Duty Manager/Shift Supervisor at our state’s largest 24/7 Watchhouse responsible for custody management of prisoners and line control of staff on shift.

In 2022, he commenced employment with Leonardo US Cyber and Security Solutions (then Selex ES Inc) where he supports our Australasian region to promote the benefits and capabilities of our ANPR/ALPR products to help bring about safe communities.

Murray is a former highly decorated NSW Police Force Detective Superintendent with 33 years investigative experience and a distinguished background in crime prevention. He held significant leadership roles including Commander of the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and the Property Crime Squad. His expertise encompasses a wide range of areas including motor vehicle theft.

Murray was a board member of the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (NMVTRC); Chair of the NSW Car Theft Action Group, Chair of the NSW Retail Theft Committee and a member of IAATI.

Murray was also a member of the Scrap Metal Legislation Group which implemented legislation to reduce the number of stolen vehicles sold to scrap metal dealers in NSW.

Murray has received numerous national and international awards including the Australian Crime and Violence Prevention Award and the Herman Goldstein Award for Problem-Oriented Policing.

Post retirement, Murray has been a Sydney-based consultant providing specialised services to the insurance, legal and retail industries. He currently serves as Director of Investigations & Police Liaison at PropertyVAULT.

Jarrod Turner joined Victoria Police in 2005. He has been a senior investigator since 2011 and has worked across several uniform and crime investigation units. Jarrod has worked in regional drug and armed robbery taskforces and has always had a desire to influence change in the ever evolving vehicle crime space. In April 2022, Jarrod was promoted to Detective Sergeant at the states Crime Command, Vehicle Crime Squad. Jarrod and his team have been working with vehicle manufacturers and the Department of Transport to implement statewide change relating to vehicle tracking and combating cloned number plates. For the past year, Jarrod has been performing the role of the OIC of the Vehicle Crime Squad as a Detective Acting Senior Sergeant.

Nick Scott joined the NSW Police Force in 2002 where he began his Policing career in General Duties in the Northern Beaches Local Area Command.

He quickly realised a passion for investigative work and in 2006 began working in this field within the Norther Beaches Target Action Group focusing on property related crime, break and enters and motor vehicle theft.

During the next few years Nick continued his investigative apprenticeship with the Northwest Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad and the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad. During this time, he was exposed to high levels of Organised Crime Networks involvement with drug importation and supply, and it was during this time he was first exposed to organised motor vehicle rebirthing investigations.
In 2011 Nick completed his Detectives Designation Course and gained the rank of Detective Senior Constable.

After a 5-year period of working at Operation Polaris, a joint taskforce involving NSW Police, Australian Federal Police, Border force and other law enforcement agencies focussing on large scale drug and tobacco importations, Nick transferred to State Crime Command Motor Unit.
The Motor Unit, currently attached to the State Crime Command Financial Crimes Squad is responsible for all major and complex motor vehicle theft and rebirthing including the investigation into the coordinated theft of motor vehicles and the sale/supply/disposal for use by Organised Crime Networks to facilitate Serious Crime.

DSC SCOTT is one of the most senior investigators within the Motor Unit and plays a significant role in all investigations undertaken by the team. He is involved in the ongoing training and education of all police at the local level and is a respected mentor to all other investigators within the unit.
